Mid-West Ghana marks SDA Church’s 40th anniversary

The Midwest Ghana Conference (MWGC) of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church has climaxed the 40th anniversary celebration of the Church with a mammoth durbar at the Sunyani Jubilee Park.

The durbar was attended by Members of Parliament (MPs), ministers, and former ministers of state, and distinguished politicians including the former Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a sermon, Pastor Professor Daniel Opoku Boateng, a Retired Minister of the Church, urged Ghanaians to always appreciate and be grateful to God for the prevailing peace of the country.

He said that: “God has shown us an unconditional and unfailing love, and we must appreciate that by praising Him in order not to be ingrate”.

Pastor Prof Boateng said as a religious nation, Ghanaians ought to demonstrate godliness in all their ways, urging Christians in particular to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to transform society.

Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, who was the guest of honour, expressed concern about moral decadence and indiscipline in the country.

He urged the Church and faith-based organisations to contribute towards stemming the growing acts of lawlessness, illegal mining, and environmental degradation as well as youth substance abuse.

Odeefour Ogyeamansan Korkor II commended the SDA Church for their invaluable contribution towards advancing quality education in the country.

Pastor Maxwell Boateng Awuah, the President of the MWGC paid a glowing tribute to the forebearers, pastors and workers for their contributions towards the growth and development of the Church.

“This milestone is not merely a celebration of years, but a powerful testimony of God’s sustaining grace, unfailing leadership and abundant blessings upon the church”, he stated.

The anniversary was on the theme: “Legacy of faith-celebrating 40 years of discipleship, witnessing and nation building”.
