Mahama cuts sod for 1,238-Acre Afienya Industrial Park

President John Mahama has cut sod for the construction of the 1,238-acre Afienya Industrial Park, a project government expects to boost manufacturing, attract investment and create jobs.

The park is designed to accommodate more than 120 enterprises and will provide essential infrastructure, including power, water, roads and waste treatment facilities, to make it easier for businesses to establish factories and begin production.

Speaking at the ceremony on Thursday October 15, the President said the development would help meet growing investor demand following the exhaustion of available space at the Tema Export Processing Zone.

He disclosed that the government’s proposed 10-billion-dollar New Economy Programme would support infrastructure development at the park as part of efforts to expand production, reduce imports and increase exports.
