CAF condemns misconduct during AFCON 2025 final

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has strongly condemned the unsporting behaviour of certain players and team officials following the TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 final between hosts Morocco and Senegal in Rabat on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

In a statement on its official website, CAF described the conduct as unacceptable and contrary to the values of professionalism, respect, and fair play that the competition upholds.

The football governing body emphasized that misconduct directed at match officials, organizers, or any other stakeholders will not be tolerated, especially at a prestigious event like the AFCON final.

CAF confirmed that it is reviewing match footage and official reports, and that the matter will be referred to the appropriate disciplinary bodies. Sanctions are expected for individuals found to have breached competition regulations.

The Confederation reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of African football, ensuring that high-profile matches remain a celebration of the sport rather than being overshadowed by controversy.

The AFCON final, which drew thousands of spectators in Rabat and millions of viewers across Africa, concluded the month-long tournament hosted by Morocco.
