Cristiano Ronaldo named world’s highest-paid athlete

Cristiano Ronaldo has once again been named the world’s highest-earning athlete by Forbes, marking the fourth consecutive year he has topped the global rankings and the sixth time overall in his career.

The Portuguese superstar’s latest achievement sees him match the record of basketball icon Michael Jordan for the most appearances at the top of the Forbes list.

According to Forbes, the 41-year-old earned an estimated $300 million over the past 12 months through his salary at Al-Nassr, endorsement deals, sponsorships and other business ventures.

Ronaldo’s off-field influence continues to grow alongside his performances on the pitch. He recently helped Al-Nassr secure the Saudi Pro League title for the first time since his arrival three seasons ago, scoring twice in a 4-1 victory over DAMAC Club to seal the championship. The triumph delivered the club’s 20th league title.

The latest Forbes ranking also comes as attention builds toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ronaldo is expected to represent Portugal in what could become his sixth World Cup appearance.

Ronaldo first reached the top of the Forbes earnings list in 2016 and 2017 during his time at Real Madrid. His sustained commercial appeal has made him one of the most marketable athletes in modern sports history, although golfer Tiger Woods still holds the record for the most consecutive years at number one between 2002 and 2013.
