As part of its commitment to promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage and supporting community development, MTN Ghana has donated GH¢30,000 in cash, GH¢2,000 worth of airtime, assorted beverages and traditional items to the Ga State to support this year’s Homowo Festival celebrations.
The donation, presented to the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, forms part of MTN Ghana’s activities marking its 30th anniversary and reinforces the company’s longstanding partnership with the Ga State as it seeks to foster peace, unity and national development through cultural celebrations.
Chief Customer Experience Officer of MTN Ghana, Jemima Kotei-Walsh, said the company was honoured to once again identify with the people of the Ga State during the annual Homowo Festival.
She said MTN believes supporting communities and preserving Ghana’s cultural heritage are essential to national development, adding that the company remains committed to celebrating traditions that unite people.
She expressed the hope that the gesture would promote peaceful coexistence among the people of the Ga State, stressing that unity remains a key driver of development.
Chief Customer Experience Officer noted that beyond supporting cultural festivals, MTN Ghana remains committed to advancing financial inclusion, digital literacy and economic empowerment across communities.
She said the company would continue promoting Mobile Money and financial literacy initiatives to improve access to financial services for petty traders, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the unbanked, enabling them to grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
She added that MTN Ghana would continue investing in its three strategic pillars of education, health and economic empowerment, while expanding customer support initiatives to educate subscribers on its products and services and help them identify and avoid fraud.
The Nae Wulomo, Nuumo Akwaa Mensah III, expressed appreciation to MTN Ghana for its continuous support and partnership, describing the gesture as a demonstration of the company’s commitment to the development and welfare of the Ga people.
He said although MTN Ghana has operated in the country for about three decades, the donation marked the first official collaboration of its kind with the Ga Traditional Council in support of the Homowo Festival.
According to him, the gesture would strengthen the relationship between MTN Ghana and the people of the Ga State while opening a new chapter of cooperation between the traditional authorities and the telecommunications company.
Nae Wulomo expressed the hope that the partnership would be sustained beyond this year’s celebrations, describing it as an example worthy of emulation by other corporate institutions operating in Ghana.
He said stronger collaboration between the corporate sector and traditional authorities would help promote unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence while contributing to the country’s development.
He also encouraged residents and visitors expected to throng the festivities to patronise MTN Ghana’s products and services during the festival, noting that the company had positioned itself to serve customers throughout the celebration.
