Ghana parts ways with Coach Otto Addo

The Ghana Football Association has dismissed Black Stars head coach Otto Addo after a series of disappointing results in recent international friendlies.

The decision follows Ghana’s back-to-back defeats to Austria and Germany, which extended the team’s losing streak to four consecutive matches.

Addo’s removal comes at a crucial period, with the senior national team preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. Ghana has been drawn in a challenging group alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

Meanwhile, Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has admitted that Ghana is not yet fully prepared for the tournament but says measures are being implemented to ensure readiness.

Speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV, he explained that preparations go beyond the Black Stars’ performance and include broader national promotional efforts.

He also disclosed that government has allocated about $30 million for Ghana’s World Cup campaign, covering logistics such as accommodation, training, feeding, player bonuses, and promotional activities aimed at projecting the country on the global stage.

The Ghana Football Association is expected to appoint an interim technical team or name a new head coach in the coming days as preparations for the tournament intensify.
