The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has announced an expedited process to replace Ghanaian passports lost or damaged during Monday’s devastating floods as part of efforts to support affected persons.
In a statement issued on Friday, July 3, 2026, the Ministry urged affected passport holders to contact it between Friday, July 3, and Friday, July 17, 2026, to begin the replacement process.
Applicants are required to provide their full name, date of birth and gender as captured in the lost or damaged passport, along with a valid telephone number to facilitate communication.
According to the Ministry, all eligible passports will be replaced within one week of completing the required process.
The Ministry said the initiative forms part of its contribution to the government’s ongoing relief efforts following the floods, which claimed lives and caused widespread destruction of property.
It expressed its deepest sympathies to families who lost loved ones and solidarity with all those affected by the disaster.
“The Ministry remains committed to playing its role in supporting the government’s efforts during this difficult period,” the statement said.
The Ministry explained that the decision was taken after recognising that many Ghanaians had either lost their passports or had them damaged during the floods.
“Consequently, the Ministry has decided to implement an expedited replacement of lost and damaged Ghanaian passports as a result of the floods,” it added.
