Ghana unveils final 26-man squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially unveiled its final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The announcement, made on Monday, confirms a strong lineup led by captain Jordan Ayew and featuring star names such as Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Antoine Semenyo.

Ghana’s squad is evenly structured with three goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, and eight forwards, highlighting a carefully balanced team built for both stability and attacking strength.

In the goalkeeping department, Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare earns a notable call-up following standout performances in the Ghana Premier League. He joins experienced shot-stopper Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang to complete the trio.

Asare’s selection stands out as one of the few home-based inclusions, a move likely to energise local fans.

The defensive unit combines experience and emerging talent, with Baba Rahman, Gideon Mensah, and Alidu Seidu providing leadership at the back. They are supported by Marvin Senaya, Abdul Mumin, Jerome Opoku, Jonas Adjetey, Kojo Oppong Peprah, and Derrick Luckassen, offering depth and versatility.

In midfield, Thomas Partey is expected to be the central figure, orchestrating play and providing control in the middle of the park. He is joined by Elisha Owusu, Kwasi Sibo, Augustine Boakye, Caleb Yirenkyi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, giving the coaching team a mix of experience and youthful energy.

Up front, Ghana will depend on a dynamic attacking group led by Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, and Kamaldeen Sulemana. They are complemented by Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Prince Kwabena Adu, rounding out a potent offensive lineup.
