The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has warned road contractors that only those who complete their projects on schedule will be considered for the next phase of the government’s Big Push programme.
According to him, contractors who delay or abandon ongoing projects should not expect to be awarded additional contracts while failing to deliver on their existing commitments.
He explained that the government will prioritise contractors who demonstrate the capacity to execute projects within agreed timelines, making timely completion a key consideration in the award of future road projects.
The Minister issued the warning during a working visit to the Northern Region as part of his nationwide inspection tour of road projects on Saturday, September 5.
During the visit, he expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on the Tamale Outer Ring Road being undertaken by China Railway No. 5, Sinohydro Corporation Limited and Munisco Construction.
Agbodza assured residents that the government remains committed to completing the Tamale Outer Ring Road by the end of 2027, describing the project as critical to the continued development of the rapidly expanding city.
“We believe the quality of life in this town would improve greatly when we finish this road. Tamale is one of the fastest-growing cities in West Africa, to be honest. And when we do this, we give an opportunity for further investment and quality of life.”
