New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Odeneho Kwaku Appiah has secured the first position on the ballot paper for the party’s Ashanti Regional executive elections after successfully completing the vetting process.
The former Afigya Kwabre South Constituency Chairman picked the first slot during balloting conducted after the vetting exercise, as he intensifies his campaign to become the next Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party.
Speaking to the media after the vetting and balloting, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Asanteman COKA, pledged to rebuild party unity, strengthen grassroots structures and reposition the NPP for victory in the 2028 general elections.
He expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious in the regional executive contest, insisting that his leadership would focus on practical reforms and results rather than rhetoric.
“In the next three weeks, I, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, will be the next regional chairman for the NPP and nobody else,” he declared.
COKA said his vision was to build a stronger and more coordinated party in the Ashanti Region by ensuring that party structures function effectively from the constituency to polling station levels.
“My vision is to build a strong and united party where structures work effectively. I am ready to lead Ashanti with less talk and more action, less noise and more progress, less speeches and more work,” he said.
The Ashanti Region remains a critical electoral base for the NPP and has historically contributed the party’s highest number of votes in presidential and parliamentary elections. The regional executive elections are therefore expected to play a major role in the party’s efforts to reorganise and recover from its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
COKA argued that the ultimate objective of the party’s restructuring must be to regain political power, stressing that the NPP cannot accept its current position after losing government.
“Where we are today is not where we intend to be as a party. The main aim of forming a political party is to win power, nothing more and nothing less,” he said.
He promised to pursue strategic and lawful measures to increase the NPP’s presidential votes and reclaim parliamentary seats lost in the Ashanti Region during the 2024 elections.
The former constituency chairman also assured delegates that his campaign would remain focused on issues and ideas, rather than personal attacks against his contenders.
“I am ready to run a clean campaign, a respectful and idea-based campaign,” he stated.
Looking ahead to the 2028 general elections, COKA said the NPP would be prepared to challenge the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressing optimism that the party would return to power.
“We are ready for the NDC. I see victory coming in 2028,” he said.
The NPP is currently electing new regional executives across the country as part of a broader reorganisation programme aimed at rebuilding party structures, strengthening grassroots mobilisation and preparing the party for the next presidential and parliamentary elections.
