The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced major leadership changes following the resignation of its Deputy Chairperson in charge of Corporate Affairs, Dr. Bossman Asare, and the retirement of Deputy Chairperson for Operations, Samuel Tettey.
Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu made the disclosure on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Government Accountability Series. He confirmed that Dr. Asare will officially leave office on July 31, 2026.
Dr. Asare reportedly stated in his resignation letter that he is stepping down to return to academia at the University of Ghana. He thanked the President and Ghanaians for the opportunity to serve at the Electoral Commission during his tenure.
Kwakye Ofosu also revealed that steps are already underway to replace both officials. A nominee has been forwarded to the Council of State for approval as part of the appointment process.
Once the Council completes its review, the government will announce the replacement for Samuel Tettey, followed by the process to fill Dr. Asare’s position.
The Electoral Commission is expected to provide further updates as the transition process continues.
