Bawumia sympathises with flood victims

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has extended his condolences to victims of the devastating floods that have affected several parts of Ghana, expressing sympathy to families who have lost loved ones, homes and property.

In a statement issued on Monday, Dr Bawumia said his thoughts and prayers were with the thousands of people whose lives had been disrupted by the flooding.

“This morning, my thoughts and prayers are with the thousands of our people affected by the floods. My deepest sympathies to those who have lost their loved ones and properties, and those who have been forced out of their homes,” he said.

The former Vice President urged residents to comply with safety directives issued by government and emergency management agencies, stressing that adherence to official instructions was essential to protecting lives as rescue operations continued.

He also appealed to emergency responders and relevant state institutions to intensify efforts to reach affected communities and provide swift assistance to those in distress.

“I urge citizens to comply with all directives issued by the government and to cooperate fully with institutions mandated to address the situation. I also urge the emergency services and all relevant authorities to do everything possible to reach those in need and assist them,” he stated.

Dr Bawumia expressed confidence that the country would overcome the crisis through solidarity and mutual support, encouraging Ghanaians to stand by one another during the difficult period.

“We will get through this difficult time by caring for one another,” he said, ending his message with the prayer: “May God bless our homeland Ghana.”

Heavy rainfall on Monday triggered widespread flooding across several communities, displacing thousands of residents, damaging homes, businesses and infrastructure, while emergency agencies continue rescue, evacuation and relief operations.
