President John Dramani Mahama has reassigned the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, to serve as Minister for Defence in a ministerial reshuffle announced by the Presidency.
In a statement, the Presidency said the President had communicated the changes to Parliament through the Speaker in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
As part of the reshuffle, Ahmed Ibrahim, Member of Parliament, has been moved from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to head the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
President Mahama has also nominated Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament, as Minister-designate for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, while Mahama Ayariga has been nominated as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The appointments and nominations are subject to Parliament’s approval following the constitutional vetting and confirmation process.
