GTEC freezes UG facility fees, announces approved levies for 2025/2026

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has announced the officially approved fees for the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year, aiming to provide clarity and address concerns about the institution’s fee structure.

In a statement released on Monday, January 12, and signed by Director General Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, GTEC confirmed that the Academic Facility User Fee will remain at the 2024/2025 rate, ensuring that students will not face any increase.

Other applicable fees to the University of Ghana include:

  • Student Representative Council (SRC) dues: GH₵50

  • SRC Development Levy: GH₵150

  • Graduate Students (GRASAG) Development Levy: GH₵250

  • Telecel Broadband Levy: GH₵122, applicable to undergraduate students, including freshmen

Additionally, a 75th Anniversary Levy of GH₵100 will be charged only for the 2025/2026 academic year and is not expected to continue in future sessions.

GTEC also emphasized that students should be well-informed about their rights, including the ability to opt out of specific levies where applicable. The Commission described the announcement as a step toward greater transparency and compliance across the university.

“This announcement seeks to resolve issues surrounding the 2025/2026 fee schedule for the University of Ghana. We are counting on the usual cooperation of all stakeholders to implement it effectively,” the statement added.
