The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a teacher of Nyinahini Catholic Senior High School, one Eric Buernortey Apaflo, following the circulation of a viral video in which he was seen assaulting a female student of the school.
He was arrested on Monday, June 8, 2026 by the Nyinahini District Patrol Team at about 7PM following reports of the alleged assault.
According to initial police reports, Apaflo, who is the caretaker of the school’s hostel, had a confrontation with the victim and some male students over alleged misconduct at the facility.
It was during this confrontation that the suspect assaulted the student.
This incident, the police said, angered some of the students who allegedly attempted to pelt the suspect with stones.
They also called on some young people from the town to attack Apaflo.
The situation was however brought under control by the police.
The suspect is currently in police custody while the victim has been given a Police Medical Report Form for medical examination and treatment.
