The Government of Ghana, through the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has commenced the disbursement of grants to beneficiaries under the 2025 cohort of the Adwumawura Programme, a flagship national initiative aimed at promoting youth entrepreneurship, stimulating business growth, and creating sustainable jobs across the country.
The programme, launched to equip young Ghanaians with entrepreneurial skills and access to capital, has so far trained and mentored 10,887 beneficiaries nationwide.
Participants underwent an intensive five-week training in business development, innovation, and enterprise management, followed by six months of structured post-training mentorship designed to strengthen their business models and improve operational capacity.
The latest phase of the programme marks the transition from training to financing, with government now rolling out grants to support selected businesses.
Officials describe the disbursement as a critical step in turning ideas into viable enterprises capable of generating employment and contributing to economic growth.
Rigorous selection process
A key feature of the programme has been the introduction of a strict and transparent selection framework to determine beneficiaries eligible for financial support.
A Grant Management Committee was constituted and inaugurated to oversee the process, ensuring fairness, accountability, and merit-based selection.
The committee brings together representatives from academia, government institutions, financial agencies, development partners, and the private sector, creating a multi-stakeholder structure intended to safeguard credibility and reduce bias in decision-making.
Following completion of the training phase, beneficiaries were required to submit detailed business plans outlining their proposed ventures and innovations.

These submissions were subjected to a one-week screening process, during which proposals were assessed based on scalability, job creation potential, sustainability, and feasibility.
According to the evaluation framework, priority was given to businesses with the capacity to expand, create at least two decent jobs, demonstrate long-term viability, and show practical readiness for implementation.
Nationwide pitching phase finalised selection
Shortlisted applicants advanced to a nationwide pitching stage, where they presented their business ideas before the Grant Management Committee.
This process allowed evaluators to interrogate proposals further, validate assumptions, and assess the readiness of entrepreneurs to execute their plans.
The pitching exercise culminated in comprehensive assessment reports that informed final selection decisions.
Following the completion of all evaluation stages, a total of 3,212 beneficiaries have been selected for grant support across all regions of the country.
Major milestone in youth entrepreneurship drive
The commencement of grant disbursement is being described as a significant milestone in the implementation of the Adwumawura Programme.
It reinforces government’s broader agenda of nurturing entrepreneurship, reducing youth unemployment, and promoting inclusive economic development.
Officials at NEIP say the initiative is designed not only to provide financial support but also to build a strong ecosystem of young entrepreneurs capable of scaling their businesses and contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s economic transformation.
Continued support and monitoring
NEIP has also indicated that its role will not end with the disbursement of funds.
Beneficiaries will continue to receive post-disbursement monitoring, mentorship, and business advisory services to ensure sustainability and long-term success of funded enterprises.
Call to future applicants
Meanwhile, young entrepreneurs who were not successful in the 2025 cohort have been encouraged to prepare for the next phase of the programme.
NEIP has announced that the application portal for the 2026 cohort will soon be opened, offering another opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs to access training, mentorship, and funding support.
