MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to driving Ghana’s digital and socio-economic transformation through sustained investments in connectivity, innovation and strategic partnerships as the telecommunications giant marks 30 years of operations in the country.
The pledge was made during a Regional Media and Stakeholder Forum held for stakeholders from the Western and Central Regions as part of activities commemorating MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary under the theme, “30 Years of Progress, Powered by You.”
The forum brought together representatives from regulatory bodies, security agencies, public institutions and the media to reflect on the role telecommunications has played in expanding opportunities, supporting businesses and accelerating community development over the past three decades.
Delivering the keynote address, the Chief Internal Audit and Forensic Officer of MTN Ghana, Michael Gbewonyo, said the country’s telecommunications sector had undergone a remarkable transformation over the past 30 years, with technology evolving from a luxury enjoyed by a few to an essential service that powers everyday life.
He noted that improved connectivity had enabled businesses to expand, students to access educational opportunities, families to remain connected and communities to participate more actively in Ghana’s growing digital economy.
“As we celebrate 30 years of progress, we are reminded that our journey has been shaped by the trust and support of our customers, stakeholders, partners and employees. This milestone belongs to everyone who has been part of building a more connected Ghana,” he said.
Mr Gbewonyo stressed that the company’s success should not only be measured by its business growth but also by the positive impact it has made in the lives of Ghanaians.
He said MTN would continue investing in network expansion, digital innovation and community-focused initiatives aimed at broadening access to digital opportunities, improving livelihoods and supporting national development.
According to him, the company’s long-term vision remains focused on ensuring that every Ghanaian has access to reliable digital services capable of transforming education, healthcare, commerce and financial inclusion.
He also paid tribute to the media and other stakeholders for their continued partnership over the years, describing their contribution as instrumental to the company’s growth and service improvement.
“Thank you for telling our stories, for highlighting the issues that matter to our communities, and for holding us to account with honest feedback,” he stated.
The event also featured an interactive panel discussion that allowed participants to engage directly with MTN’s senior management on issues relating to network development, customer experience, service quality and commercial innovation.
The discussions provided stakeholders with insights into the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen network resilience, improve service delivery and meet the changing expectations of customers across the country.
Participating in the panel were the General Manager for Network Operations, Magnus Coffie, the General Manager for Regional Sales, David Gyimah Boadi, and the Manager for Retail Experience, Mawufemor Kuapah.
The officials reaffirmed MTN Ghana’s commitment to expanding digital access, improving network reliability and delivering innovative products and services that support individuals, businesses and communities.
They also highlighted the company’s continuous investments in infrastructure and technology to improve connectivity and ensure customers enjoy reliable and high-quality digital services.
The Western and Central regional engagement forms part of a nationwide series of stakeholder forums being organised by MTN Ghana as part of its annual engagement programme and the company’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
The forums are designed to deepen collaboration with customers, regulators, public institutions, the media and other stakeholders while providing a platform for dialogue on emerging issues within Ghana’s telecommunications sector.
They also offer MTN an opportunity to express appreciation to customers and partners whose support has contributed to the company’s growth and success over the past three decades.
As MTN celebrates its 30-year milestone, the company says it remains focused on building a more connected, inclusive and digitally empowered Ghana through sustained investment, innovation and partnerships that create opportunities and improve the quality of life for millions of Ghanaians.
