The military has commenced the demolition of structures around La Beach as part of an ongoing exercise to clear the area.
Military personnel supervising the operation have directed vendors and businesses operating within the resort to vacate the premises to allow the exercise to proceed.
The development has, however, sparked resistance from the Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, who confronted the military over the demolition.
The MP questioned the decision to proceed with the exercise without prior communication to her, saying she had been assured by government that those structures would not be demolished.
She said she had engaged the relevant authorities on the matter and was surprised to see the military at the site carrying out the demolition.
She questioned the rationale behind the operation, asking, “What is it, do you want to kill us, what has La done?”
