Kasapreko begins trading on Ghana Stock Exchange

Ghana’s largest indigenous beverage producer, Kasapreko PLC, has officially listed on the Main Market of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), marking a major milestone in the company’s growth and opening its ownership to the investing public.

The listing gives Kasapreko access to long-term capital to fund expansion while allowing Ghanaians to become shareholders in one of the country’s leading homegrown brands.

The company began trading under the ticker symbol KASA.

Chief Executive Officer, Richard Adjei, said the company deliberately spent time studying the capital market before going public, first entering the Ghana Fixed Income Market in 2024 to better understand regulatory requirements, investor expectations and market operations.

“We took time to learn how the stock exchange works, how pension funds operate and how the regulatory environment functions,” he said, adding that the decision to list was only taken after the company was confident in the market ecosystem.

He described the transition from a family-owned business to a listed entity as “like a marriage,” stressing the importance of choosing the right investors and partners for long-term growth. He noted that consumers who have supported the brand over the years now have the opportunity to become part-owners.

Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, said the listing reflects strong investor confidence in Ghana’s economy and capital market.

She said proceeds from the listing will support the construction of a new production facility at Adesu and expand capacity in bottled water and carbonated drinks.

She described Kasapreko’s entry into the market as a “signal of confidence” for frontier markets and highlighted its role in boosting industrial growth.

Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange, Abena Amoah, encouraged more Ghanaian firms to access the capital market, noting that public listing offers patient capital, stronger governance and long-term sustainability.

Kasapreko, best known for its flagship Alomo Bitters brand, is expected to use the listing to accelerate expansion across Africa while strengthening its position in Ghana’s competitive beverage industry.
