Govt to launch Labour Market Info System to connect job seekers

The Government of Ghana is preparing to launch a Labour Market Information System, a digital platform aimed at connecting job seekers with vacancies across the country.

Announcing the initiative, Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, explained that the platform will act as a central hub for job openings in both public and private sectors.

Speaking on JoyNews on Monday, January 12, Dr. Pelpuo said: “Jobs are available, but young people often struggle to find them. My role is to monitor the labour market, highlight opportunities, and ensure youth have access to them.”

He urged public and private organizations to list their vacancies on the system. Dr. Pelpuo added that while all government opportunities are included, efforts are ongoing to integrate private sector listings.

The platform is designed to improve employment accessibility, reduce skills mismatches, and increase labour market efficiency. Employers can post vacancies and access a pool of skilled workers, while job seekers can view, apply for, and track positions nationwide.

Though not yet officially launched, the system has undergone testing with positive feedback from users. Dr. Pelpuo said, “We have been working on it throughout last year, and after extensive trials, we are ready for the official launch.”
