The Government has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, describing his death as a great loss to Dagbon and the nation.
In a statement issued by the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications and Presidential Spokesman, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, President John Dramani Mahama, on behalf of the Government, extended his deepest condolences to the Royal Family, the people of Dagbon and all Ghanaians during this period of mourning.
The statement described Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II as a distinguished traditional ruler whose reign was marked by healing, reconciliation and the restoration of lasting peace in Dagbon after years of conflict.
According to the Government, the late Overlord’s unwavering commitment to unity, stability and the welfare of his people created a conducive environment for development and strengthened collaboration between traditional authorities and the Government in advancing progress in Dagbon and across the country.
The Government paid tribute to his life and legacy, acknowledging his invaluable service to Ghana and his enduring contributions to peace and national development.
“May his wisdom, leadership and dedication to peace continue to inspire future generations. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement said.
