CBG takes healthcare to churches

The Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) has undertaken a health screening exercise for members of the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministries (CEM) at North Legon in Accra.

The exercise forms part of the bank’s initiative to promote wellness, preventive healthcare, and community support.

This is the fourth such outreach the bank has undertaken this year, with four more planned in the coming months.

The health screening also forms part of the bank’s efforts to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all.

During the exercise, members of the CEM congregation were screened for hypertension and high blood pressure. Participants also had their cholesterol and blood sugar levels checked.

The Managing Director of CBG, Naomi Wolali Kwetey, explained that the exercise forms part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy for the year.

She noted that the initiative is aimed at encouraging preventive healthcare among communities.

“At CBG, this year we have decided that our main focus will be preventive health. Throughout the year, we will be visiting various churches and centres to educate people on the importance of knowing their health status,” she said.

Dr. Kwetey added that early screening and awareness are key to preventing serious health complications.

“It is better to know your status and prevent illness rather than wait for a problem to occur before seeking treatment. Prevention is always better than cure,” she stated.
