Ghanaian music star Black Sherif has won a legal battle against his former management company, Charvis Wayne’s Consult, after the High Court (Commercial Division) dismissed the bulk of claims brought against him.
The judgment, delivered on Thursday, January 16, 2026, by Her Ladyship Justice Afia Adu-Amankwa, brings to a close the protracted dispute between the internationally acclaimed artiste, born Shadrach Owusu Agyei, and his former manager, Mohammed Ismail Sherif.
In her ruling, the court confirmed that a management agreement did exist between the parties. However, it held that the plaintiff failed to provide sufficient evidence to substantiate key allegations, including claims of withheld revenue, unaccounted earnings and financial losses allegedly arising from the agreement.
The court further found that the former management failed to render full accounts as required under the contract and did not prove that it continued to perform its contractual obligations after the agreement had been terminated.
Claims relating to construction works and other expenses said to have been incurred on behalf of Black Sherif were also dismissed due to lack of proof. Additionally, the court ruled that the plaintiff failed to take reasonable steps to mitigate any losses following the termination of the agreement.
However, the court held that Black Sherif’s engagement with a third party while the management agreement was still in force constituted a technical breach of contract. Justice Adu-Amankwa noted that no substantial loss had been proven and consequently awarded nominal damages of GH¢50,000, describing the breach as limited in scope.
All other reliefs sought by the plaintiff were dismissed. The court also awarded costs of GH¢15,000, restricted to reasonable legal and related expenses.
The ruling effectively brings the dispute to an end, with the court making it clear that no significant liability had been established against Black Sherif.
Following the judgment, the award-winning artiste is said to be fully focused on his music career and ongoing international engagements.
