One person was killed and three others injured following a collision between a tipper truck and a fuel tanker on the Accra-Tema Motorway late Monday night.
The crash, which resulted in a fire outbreak involving the fuel tanker, occurred between Saka-Saka Park and Tanink, Ghana, on the motorway.
A report from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the collision involved a tipper truck with registration number AS 466-19 loaded with 2×6 wood and a fuel tanker with registration number AS 3555-24 carrying 54,000 litres of fuel.
The report indicated that three injured persons were rushed to the Tema General Hospital for treatment.
It added that one death was recorded, with part of the victim’s remains retrieved from the scene and handed over to the police for further action.
According to the GNFS, a distress call was received at 23:50 hours, and firefighters arrived at the scene four minutes later.
It added that additional crews from Ashaiman and the Tema Industrial Area were subsequently deployed to support the operation, while a water tanker was also dispatched to the scene.

The fire was brought under control at 00:56 hours, after which firefighters commenced efforts to extract a trapped victim from the wreckage.
The blaze was finally extinguished at 01:44 hours, while the victim’s remains were recovered at about 02:19 hours.
The GNFS said 26 tyres on the fuel tanker were completely destroyed by the fire, while an undetermined quantity of fuel was lost.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
