Shatta Wale sues Blakk Rasta for GH¢100M over ‘fraud’ allegations

Renowned Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has filed a GH¢100 million defamation lawsuit against social commentator Abubakar Ahmed, also known as Blakk Rasta.

The suit, lodged on January 15, 2026, stems from a video Blakk Rasta published on December 15, 2025, titled “Shatta Wale, Self-Confessed King of Fraud.”

In his statement of claim, Shatta Wale asserts that the video contained false and malicious statements intended to tarnish his reputation as a public figure and award-winning musician. He claims the commentary portrayed him as dishonest, morally corrupt, involved in fraudulent activities, and associated with individuals engaged in crime.

Shatta Wale argues that the video caused him public ridicule, scandal, and contempt, and led to distress among his family, fans, business partners, and colleagues in the music industry.

He is seeking a court declaration that the statements are defamatory, an order requiring Blakk Rasta to permanently remove the video from all platforms, and an injunction preventing further defamatory statements.

The artist is also demanding a public retraction and apology, to be published on Blakk Rasta’s social media accounts and in the Daily Graphic, Ghanaian Times, and Graphic Showbiz, alongside GH¢100 million in damages and legal costs.
