Police arrests Counsellor Lutterodt over comments on late Daddy Lumba

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested controversial relationship counsellor Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt, popularly known as Counsellor Lutterodt, over comments he allegedly made in a viral video concerning the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.

According to the police, the suspect is alleged to have made remarks that encouraged some youth to storm the residence of the deceased musician, a situation authorities believe could potentially incite unrest.

A statement from the police said preliminary investigations suggest the comments were made in connection with issues surrounding the late musician and were deemed offensive and capable of causing a breach of the peace.

Following his arrest, Counsellor Lutterodt was interrogated by investigators at the CID headquarters as part of ongoing investigations into the matter.

Police further disclosed that he has been granted bail but is expected to appear before court on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

He will face charges of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace, contrary to Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), as well as inciting violence under provisions of both the Criminal Offences Act and the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).

The police have urged the public to exercise restraint and avoid making comments that could inflame tensions or lead to disturbances, particularly on sensitive matters relating to public figures.

The case is expected to be heard when the suspect appears before the court later this week.
