Manhyia North Constituents Want Me Back” — Collins Owusu Amankwah

Former Manhyia North Member of Parliament (MP), Collins Owusu Amankwah, says he is torn between pursuing a national role in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and responding to mounting pressure from constituents urging his return to Parliament.

The two-term legislator (2012–2020), who is eyeing the position of NPP National Organizer in August, admitted that the growing calls from his grassroots base have placed him at a political crossroads.

“I am weighing the choice between serving the party at the national level or returning to Manhyia North to contest the parliamentary seat again,” he said, adding that a final decision will be taken in the coming weeks.

Mr. Amankwah attributed the clamour for his comeback to what he described as a “developmental vacuum” in the constituency.

He cited stalled projects such as the Duase nurses’ and teachers’ bungalows, abandoned boreholes and halted road maintenance works as evidence.

According to him, residents miss the “vision and active presence” he maintained during his tenure.

Reflecting on his political rise, he credited the people of Manhyia North for his success.

“While the party provided the platform, I owe my experience to the trust and confidence the people reposed in me. That bond makes this decision difficult,” he stated.
