KNUST student pronounced dead after hostel fall

A second-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has died after falling from a storey building at his hostel.

The deceased, Ransford Amankwah Asomani, was a Level 200 student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness Management.

The incident occurred on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at a hostel located at Ayeduase, outside the university campus. He was rushed to the KNUST Hospital by colleagues with assistance from a police patrol team but was pronounced dead on arrival.

In a statement issued on Monday, February 9, 2026, the University Relations Officer, Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe, said the student’s parents had been informed.

He added that the KNUST police, in collaboration with the university’s security services, have begun investigations into the incident. Management, he said, will provide further updates once all the facts have been established.
