Ghanaian rap veteran Obrafour has admitted feeling embarrassed whenever fellow musician Sarkodie publicly prostrates to greet him, in recognition of his influence and contributions to the music industry.
In a TikTok video, Obrafour said he often feels uneasy when Sarkodie kneels before him, questioning whether he truly deserves such respect.
“Sarkodie is huge, but anytime he sees me and wants to kneel before me, it sometimes embarrasses me. I ask myself, who am I for Sarkodie to lie on the floor for me?” he said.
Obrafour, who played a key role in shaping Sarkodie’s early career, credited his success to divine intervention, explaining that reverence should be directed to God rather than himself.
He also reflected on his spiritual journey, revealing that the death of his mother caused him to lose faith temporarily. His renewed belief in God came after his music career took off, particularly following the success of his hit song “Pae Muka.”
“Before music, I was a very devoted Adventist, but I abandoned the church when my mother died because I couldn’t understand why such a committed Christian, who was my family’s backbone, could just die like that. But when ‘Pae Muka’ blew up, I realised it was through God’s power. It was a positive energy that was working in my favour, and I couldn’t attribute it to anything else,” he said.
Obrafour stressed that all his achievements are the result of God’s guidance, and he continues to give glory to God for the success he enjoys in the music industry.
