High Court reduces Agradaa’s 15-year sentence to 12 months

The Amasaman High Court has reduced the 15-year jail sentence of former traditionalist-turned-evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, to 12 months imprisonment with a fine of GH¢2,400.

The ruling, delivered on February 5, 2026, followed an appeal filed by Agradaa challenging the original sentence imposed by an Accra Circuit Court. She argued that she had not been granted a fair trial and that the sentence was excessive.

The High Court partly upheld the appeal, leading to the reduction of the custodial term.

Agradaa had earlier been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment on two counts of defrauding by false pretence. The circuit court ordered that the two sentences run concurrently. She was also fined GH¢300 for charlatanic advertisement.

The conviction stemmed from a televised broadcast in 2022 during which she claimed she would distribute GH¢300,000 to needy individuals at a church service. However, she allegedly collected various sums of money from members of the public without making any payments.
