In a tragic incident at Millennium City, Kasoa, a soldier from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) lost his life in what appears to be an alleged land dispute. Lance Corporal Omar Abdul Rahman, accompanied by two colleagues, was attacked and killed by individuals believed to be involved in the dispute.

Preliminary investigations reveal that L/Cpl Omar owned a half plot of land which was under dispute. Despite warnings from the Millennium City Police to stay off the land until the matter was resolved, Omar and his colleagues discovered people working on the land. After confirming the activity, they proceeded to the police station to report the issue.

However, while at the police station, the purported owner of the land, accompanied by two others suspected to be land guards, confronted the soldiers. The confrontation escalated into gunfire, resulting in the death of L/Cpl Omar’s colleague, L/Cpl Danso Michael.

The assailant was subsequently disarmed and arrested by the police, who discovered that L/Cpl Danso had been fatally wounded. The body of the deceased soldier was taken to the 37 Military Hospital morgue.

The GAF expressed its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased soldier and pledged to collaborate closely with the police in further investigations. They vehemently condemned the unprovoked attack and urged citizens to seek peaceful and lawful means to resolve land disputes, emphasizing the importance of avoiding violence to prevent similar tragedies.

The public is assured that updates on the investigation will be provided in due course as authorities work to bring those responsible to justice and prevent such incidents from recurring.
