The attention of the Management of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has been drawn to a viral social media post about desertion of post by Immigration Officers posted to NDC strongholds to allow the EC to undermine the limited voter registration currently going on across the country.

The Management of the GIS strongly refutes this baseless and unfounded allegation attributed to one James Agbey, an operative of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Officers of the GIS across the country are all at post protecting the borders of the country. No such directives has been given by the Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI). This allegation should therefore be disregarded by all well meaning Ghanaians. It is the mandate of the GIS to protect and ensure that miscreants, including terrorists, do not enter the country to disturb the peace we are enjoying; and we will not relent on our responsibilities.

Management of the GIS wishes to call on all to be mindful of utterances that will only go to disturb the peace especially when such utterances are without merit and vexatious. As the lead agency in securing Ghana’s territorial integrity we will discharge our duty to the best of our abilities.
