President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Michael Harry Yamson as the new Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
His appointment is expected to bring strategic leadership and financial oversight to the Fund, ensuring effective resource allocation and management to support local governance and development initiatives across the country.
Mr. Yamson, a seasoned management consultant and business strategist, boasts nearly 30 years of expertise in business transformation, investment advisory, and governance.
Currently serving as a Board Member at Unichem Ghana Group and Managing Partner at Ishmael Yamson and Associates, he has been instrumental in driving sustainable growth and innovation in various sectors.

Vast experience in business and governance
A graduate of the University of Leeds, Mr. Yamson has built an impressive career spanning fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), telecommunications, agribusiness, and management consultancy. He started his career at Unilever Ghana, where he transformed the foods category into a market leader and optimized distribution systems.
His impact extended beyond Ghana as he led Unilever’s Africa Innovation Centre in South Africa and later managed Foods portfolios across Ghana and Francophone West Africa.
In telecommunications, he oversaw a €1 billion pre-paid business across 14 African markets and played a key role in breaking a 20-year monopoly in Ghana’s broadcasting industry as General Manager of Gateway Broadcast Services Ghana.
Beyond the private sector, Mr. Yamson has worked alongside distinguished economist Dr. Ishmael Evens Yamson at Ishmael Yamson & Associates, providing high-impact strategy and investment advisory services to major organizations, including Tema Oil Refinery, Coca-Cola, and AngloGold Ashanti.
His leadership has contributed to the revitalization of institutions and businesses, ensuring long-term success through strong governance and strategic partnerships.
As the new Administrator of DACF, Mr. Yamson’s vast expertise in financial oversight, policy implementation, and business transformation is expected to enhance the effective distribution and utilization of funds to support local development.
His appointment is seen as a step toward strengthening accountability and efficiency in the management of Ghana’s District Assemblies Common Fund.
