The High court in Accra has ordered the Electoral Commission to collate the outstanding polling stations results in Tema Central, Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central and Techiman South and declare winners for these constituencies before January 6, 2025.

The court presided over by Justice Forson Baah Agyapong has also ordered the Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to provide adequate and armed services men to help the EC carry out it the exercise.

This decision comes after the court upheld a mandamus application filed by 4 Parliamentary candidates of the New Patriotic Party in the December 7 elections.

Lets start with Tema Central where the court has ordered the EC to collate two outstanding polling station results in the Constituency and declare the winner through the returning officer of the Commision.

The court in its decision indicated that, the NDC parliamentary candidate for the area , Ebi Bright was illegally declared the winner of the elections since the person who declared her the winner was not the returning officer of the EC at a time when there were two outstanding polling stations to be collated.

For the Ablekuma North Constituency, the court has ordered for the collation of 62 outstanding polling station results in addition to the 219 already collated results.

The court in its decision held that the EC’s inability to collate all the 281 polling station results before declaring the Awurabena Aubynn, the Parliamentary Candidate for the NDC the winner meant that the commission’s mandatory duty had not been performed.

The court has again ordered the EC to collate 31 outstanding polling station results and add same to the 110 already collated results before declaring the winner of the parliamentary election in the Okaikwei Central Constituency.

The court has again ordered the Electoral Commission of Ghana to collate the results of 147 outstanding polling station in the Techiman South Constituency and declare the results through its Returning Officer.

Out of the 282 polling stations, 135 have already been collated leaving an outstanding 147.

The court held that, not all the results of all polling stations were collated before the alleged declaration hence the order.

The court in its judgment today, has also ordered the Inspector General of Police Dr George Akuffo Dampare to provide adequate and armed security men to help the EC the exercise.

But the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, Tanko Rashid-Computer said they will appeal the decision of the court.
