President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Matilda Asante-Asiedu as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, according to an official statement released by the President’s spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
The appointment, made in accordance with Section 17 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612) as amended, marks a significant addition to the central bank’s leadership.
Mrs. Asante-Asiedu brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as the Group Head of Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana PLC.
She is a Chartered Banker and a seasoned corporate leader, whose appointment is expected to strengthen the Bank of Ghana’s operations and contribute to the nation’s economic stability.
Her academic credentials include an MBA in Marketing from GIMPA Business School (2021) and an MA in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University (2005).
She also holds diplomas in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (1997) and in Politics and Public Affairs Reporting from the International Institute of Journalism in Berlin (2000). Additionally, Mrs. Asante-Asiedu recently attained the status of Chartered Executive Banker (CIB-Ghana, 2024).
She has participated in numerous executive programmes at prestigious institutions, including Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford (2023), the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (2015), and Marquette University’s Les Aspin Center for Government (2003).
