A major fundraising initiative spearheaded by the Ghana Football Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports has generated more than $13 million in cash pledges and additional support packages, underscoring renewed national commitment to the fortunes of the Black Stars.
The impressive total, which stands at $12 million ($12,096,000) in direct dollar contributions, is further complemented by GH₵13.9 million (GH₵13,950,000) in local currency pledges and a GH₵20,000 insurance package secured for the senior national team.
The fundraising drive also includes creative contributions, notably campaign music production valued at $40,000 led by celebrated Ghanaian musicians Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale.
Leading the pack of corporate contributors is indigenous mining firm Engineers & Planners Company Limited, which has pledged a substantial $5 million as headline sponsor.
The company’s commitment highlights the growing role of local industry champions in supporting national development through sports.
Another major player in the mining sector, Gold Fields Ghana, has also demonstrated strong backing for the Black Stars with a $2 million contribution, alongside an additional $1 million earmarked for next year’s activities.
Private sector participation has been equally robust, with Jewel Energy and an anonymous donor each contributing $1 million. Technology and gaming firm Christian Salamony Game Technology added $2 million to the pool, further boosting the campaign.
Individual contributions from key public figures have also played a notable role.
Music stars Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy donated $100,000 and $81,000 respectively, with Stonebwoy adding an extra $20,000 toward campaign music production.
Alhaji Musah’s Timeline and Innovation Company pledged $300,000 in support.
In cedi-denominated contributions, KGL Group made a significant commitment of GH₵10,000,000, while Serene Insurance provided GH₵2 million in cash alongside a GH₵20,000,000 insurance package to cover the team.
Additional support came from a wide range of businesses and individuals, reflecting a broad-based national effort.
P & A African Food International and Degree Auto Mechanic jointly contributed $15,000, while Abosokai Spare Parts Dealer pledged GH₵500,000.
Icon Energy donated GH₵1 million, Pay Angel contributed GH₵100,000, and Erata Motors added GH₵200,000.
Nana Adjoo Baah also supported the drive with a GH₵150,000 donation.
The scale and diversity of contributions signal a strong collective resolve to reposition the Black Stars for future success, particularly as preparations intensify for upcoming international competitions.
The initiative reflects not only financial backing but also a unifying national spirit, as corporate Ghana, the creative industry, and individuals rally behind the national team.
Football remains a powerful symbol of unity and pride in Ghana, and this fundraising milestone demonstrates the enduring belief in the Black Stars’ ability to restore glory on the global stage.
