President John Dramani Mahama has restored his promise of instituting a National Day of Prayer and thanksgiving aimed at uniting Ghanaians in gratitude and prayer for the nation’s progress and future challenges.
Inaugurating a 32-member committee today at the Presidency, H.E. John Mahama said, July 1 which is the republic day for the country will also be observed as the Day for National Prayer and Thanksgiving to make the day a meaningful one.
President Mahama noted that the committee is a dedicated body that is tasked with coordinating a National Day of Reflection, thanksgiving and prayer adding that it is not merely a ceremonial gesture but a deliberate and a solemn recognition that Ghana’s national journey be grounded not only in economic plans and political reforms but also in spiritual discipline and divine direction.
Quoting the scripture of Romans 12:18, President Mahama declared the republic day, July 1, every year as Ghana’s official National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving.
President Mahama noted that, the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day will be used to pray for the state, children, youth, teachers, doctors, nurses, security services, farmers, political actors and every person in the country so that every role that each Ghanaian embarks on will be fruitful and most importantly for the hands of God to be on the country.
President Mahama indicated that, one of Ghana’s greatest blessings is the harmony with which we live with the diverse faith adding that there is the difference in worshipping and yet we walk together.
