The Ministry of Health is excited to announce that Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has officially begun his tenure as the new Minister, marking a fresh chapter in the mission to improve the health and well-being of Ghanaians.
His appointment was formally welcomed with a staff durbar, providing an opportunity for the Minister to engage directly with the Ministry’s management and staff. In his introductory address, Alhaji Hafiz Adam, the Chief Director of the Ministry, stressed the importance of neutrality within the Civil Service and encouraged the staff to collaborate with the new minister in building a stronger healthcare system. He urged staff to embody principles such as loyalty, honesty, and fairness in their work.
In his address, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh thanked the staff for their warm reception and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all Ghanaians. He underscored the importance of teamwork in tackling the nation’s healthcare challenges, such as the shortage of healthcare professionals in rural areas, inadequate infrastructure, and the rising burden of both infectious and non-communicable diseases.
The Minister also revealed that the government plans to introduce incentives for health workers who accept postings to rural areas as part of their efforts to improve the healthcare system nationwide.
“With your support, I am confident we will overcome these challenges and achieve the goal of ‘One Health’ for our country,” Hon. Akandoh declared.
Directors and staff also had the opportunity to engage with the new Minister, expressing their enthusiasm and readiness to collaborate in the journey ahead.
