Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has reportedly withdrawn from the Black Stars squad ahead of the team’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers after picking up an injury.
Semenyo is understood to have pulled out of the squad to allow more time for recovery and further medical assessment, adding to Ghana’s growing injury concerns ahead of the international break.
The Manchester City forward has enjoyed a strong start to the 2026/27 season, registering two goals and three assists in seven appearances across all competitions.
He has featured five times in the Premier League, scoring twice and providing three assists, while also making appearances in the UEFA Champions League and FA Community Shield.
Semenyo’s withdrawal is another setback for head coach Carlos Queiroz, who has already been forced to make changes to his squad following a series of injuries and player withdrawals.
Ghana are preparing for their opening fixtures in the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign, with the Black Stars looking to begin the road to the tournament on a positive note.
There has been no official update on the severity of Semenyo’s injury or whether he could rejoin the squad later in the international window.
