The Ghana Police Service has interdicted seven personnel over an alleged extortion incident involving a patrol team in Accra.
The affected personnel are Inspector Courage Boateng, General Sergeant Stephen Addo, General Corporal Moses Anyravi, General Corporal Prosper Adiabo, General Lance Corporal Samuel Anolcye, General Constable Henrietta Coleman and General Constable Bernard Amoako.
According to the Police Service, the officers allegedly demanded money from a victim and subsequently forced him to withdraw the money from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 16, the Service said the interdiction would allow the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations.
The Police assured the public that the matter would be fully investigated and appropriate action taken based on the outcome.
