Ghana international midfielder Thomas Partey has joined Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab as a free agent following his departure from Spanish club Villarreal.
The move brings a new chapter to the experienced midfielder’s career after his spell with Villarreal, where he continued to compete at the highest level of Spanish football.
Partey, 33, has built an impressive career in Europe, having previously played for Atlético Madrid and Arsenal before moving to Villarreal. His experience, physical strength and ability to control the midfield are expected to strengthen Al Shabab’s squad.
The Ghanaian midfielder is also a key figure for the Black Stars and has represented the country in major international competitions.
His move to Saudi Arabia adds him to the growing list of high-profile African and European players featuring in the Saudi Pro League.
At Al Shabab, Partey will be expected to provide leadership and experience as the club seeks to improve its performances domestically and compete strongly against some of the league’s biggest teams.
The transfer also gives Partey an opportunity to continue his professional career in a new environment while contributing his experience to Al Shabab’s midfield.
For Ghana, his move will be closely followed, particularly as the Black Stars continue preparations for upcoming international assignments.
Partey’s next challenge will therefore be to adapt quickly to Saudi football and establish himself as an important member of the Al Shabab team.
