The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected a new crop of regional executives as part of its internal reorganisation and preparations to rebuild its electoral fortunes ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The regional executive elections were held across the country on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with the Western North Region scheduled to complete its exercise on Sunday, August 16.
The contests produced a mixture of incumbents retaining their positions and new candidates taking control of regional structures, with several chairmanship races recording decisive victories while others were closely fought.
The results available show particularly strong victories for Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, in Ashanti; Dr Bernard Okoe Boye in Greater Accra; Jeff Konadu Addo in Eastern; Joseph Kobinah Esibu in Central; Ignatius Kwesi Afrifa in Western; Mohammed Baantima Samba in Northern; Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, in Bono; and Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz in Upper West.
COKA dominates Ashanti
In the Ashanti Region, former Afigya Kwabre South Constituency NPP Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, secured a decisive victory in the regional chairmanship contest.
COKA polled 658 votes, representing 70.98 per cent of the total votes cast, to defeat his sole opponent, former Bantama MP Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who obtained 269 votes, representing 29.02 per cent.
Amofa Jantuah was elected First Vice Chairman, while Addai Opoku Aikins became Second Vice Chairman.
Dr Francis Adomako was elected Secretary, with Kingsley Bonsu Kyeretie as Deputy Secretary. Denis Kwakwa became Organiser, Martin Ameyaw Youth Organiser, Beatrice Owusu Women’s Organiser, Helena Mensah Treasurer, Keskine Owusu Poku Communications Officer and Abubakar Razak Nasara Organiser.
Okoe Boye takes Greater Accra
In Greater Accra, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye emerged regional chairman after polling 490 votes, defeating Alfred Boye, who secured 172 votes.
Joana Frances Ada won First Vice Chairman with 405 votes, ahead of Raheal Tutu with 243 and Emmanuel King Affotey with 12.
Moses Abor became Organiser with 465 votes, beating Emmanuel Anim Austin (163) and Collins Kofi Asante (32).
Daniel Parker won Secretary with 350 votes, narrowly defeating Emmanuel Clottey (314). Gideon Ampim Sakyi secured Deputy Secretary with 209, ahead of Baba Seidu Issaka (207) and Albert Nii Kraku (35).
Naomi Akosua Owusu became Women’s Organiser with 227 votes, one vote ahead of Perpetual Asante (226).
Benjamin Nargeh won Youth Organiser with 296, followed by Mandela Wiafe Edward (259) and Kwame Bekwei (102).
Michael Danquah won Treasurer with 265, against Francesca Ayorkor (222), Kofi Twum Boafo (155) and David Laryea (17).
Solomon Asante was elected Communications Officer, while Prince Obeng was listed as Second Vice Chairman.
Jeff Konadu wins Eastern
Jeff Konadu Addo won the Eastern Regional chairmanship with 405 votes, defeating former New Juaben North Constituency Chairman Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang, who polled 292.
Dr Twum Barima won First Vice Chairman with 450 votes, beating Agyekum Kofi Okyere (235).
Incumbent Tony Osei-Adjei retained the Secretary position with 552 votes, defeating Barima Asiedu Larbi (144).
Felix Osarfo Marfo became Deputy Secretary with 338 votes, ahead of incumbent Nana Yaw Papin (207) and Sylvanus Mintah Boateng (195).
Incumbent Jerry Osei Poku retained the Organiser position with 395 votes, beating Adamu Musah Raha (295).
Esibu leads Central Region
Joseph Kobinah Esibu was elected Central Regional Chairman with 278 votes, defeating Percy Dennis, who obtained 161.
Kojo Halm won First Vice Chairman with 271, while Meshack Kweku Amoafo became Second Vice Chairman with 220.
Takyi Mensah secured the Secretary position with 283, defeating Armstrong Esaah (157).
Anthony Sackey won Organiser with 333, while Charles Odoom became Deputy Secretary with 257.
Francis Asare won Treasurer with 244, ahead of Mustapha Mohammed (196).
Odeneho Kwakye Appiah won Youth Organiser with 189, followed by Lawrence Edutuah Essiaw (131) and David Essandoh (118), with one ballot rejected.
Agyeman Asiedu became Communications Director with 233, ahead of Isaac Mensah (188) and Noah Osei Assenso (85), with one ballot rejected.
Charlotte Adwo Antwi won Women’s Organiser with 302, defeating Carolyn Aboagye (136), while King Dgagada became Nasara Organiser with 207, ahead of Semila Kabore (166) and Abubakar Osman (70).
Afrifa captures Western
Former Amenfi West parliamentary candidate Ignatius Kwesi Afrifa emerged Western Regional Chairman with 265 votes, defeating Abdul Ganiyu Mohammed, who secured 102 votes. One ballot was rejected.
Ignatius Aaaah Mensah won First Vice Chairman with 205, while Francis Abeku Yankah took Second Vice Chairman with 193.
Kwasi Bonzoh was elected Secretary with 211, with Lawrence Takyi becoming Deputy Secretary on 157.
Amoabeng Acheampong won Organiser with 181, while Emmanuel Acquah Mensah became Communications Director with 212.
Osagyefo Attiah Kwaw won Youth Organiser with 197, Augustina Nketiah Women’s Organiser with 193, Nana Adwoa Appiah Treasurer with 262, and Adam Harun Ahmed Nasara Organiser with 190.
Upper West retains Chairman White
In the Upper West Region, incumbent Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz, popularly known as Chairman White, retained the chairmanship with 173 votes, defeating former Regional Organiser Alaska B. Kanton, who obtained 86. A total of 259 delegates voted.
Majeed Liman won First Vice Chairman with 193, ahead of Ali Kamara (35) and Thadeus Arkum (31).
Yussif Alhassan secured Second Vice Chairman with 200, defeating Suleimani Bennin (59).
Minaata Mumuni became Women’s Organiser with 139, ahead of Nancy A. Dery (116).
Sadat Doodoo Yussif won Organiser with 158, defeating Haki Issa (71), Yahaya Suleiman (17) and Hamidu Ridwan (13).
Mohammed Hamidu Saana won a position on the regional executive with 138, beating Mustapha Ibrahim Dimah (75), Seidu Ishahaku (22) and Amadu Adama (23).
Dr Tanko Dauda retained Secretary, while Alhassan Suleiman retained Treasurer.
Nurudeen retains North East
Fusheini Nurudeen was re-elected North East Regional Chairman after defeating Sulley Sambian.
Nurudeen secured 92 of the 156 valid votes, while Sambian obtained 64.
Abdul-Aziz Iddrisu was elected Youth Organiser, Jamila Abuba Women’s Organiser, Mammara Daniel Treasurer, Amos Walibe Communications Officer and Amos Yambil Organiser.
Tight race in Savannah
Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana won the Savannah Regional chairmanship in one of the closest contests, polling 92 votes against former Ghana Water Limited Managing Director Clifford Abdallah Braimah’s 88.
Aboagye Kwame won First Vice Chairman with 124, defeating Alhaji Braimah Adam (54).
Johnson Kwame Gyinde won Second Vice Chairman with 120, against Mahama S. Mumuni Akotia (60).
Seidu Ayuba became Secretary with 91, narrowly beating Mohammed Issah (89).
Sulemana Aminu Mayoyo was listed with 83 votes for Deputy Secretary, while Sumani Inusah had 97; the source results flag an inconsistency in the designation of these figures.
Raphael Mahama Akati was elected Organiser unopposed. Ali Abubakar won Treasurer with 106, against Abu Lutie (74).
Mohammed Fatahia became Women’s Organiser with 91, ahead of Losina Barikisu (48) and Mahama Sheila Hanatu (41).
Mohammed Shiraz-Deen won Communications Officer with 60. Alpha Omar Yakubu won Nasara Organiser with 95, while Adam Mohammed Mansuru became Youth Organiser with 97.
Booba wins Ahafo
Robert Sarfo Mensah, popularly known as Booba, was elected Ahafo Regional Chairman.
Nana Antwi Eric retained the Secretary position, while Prof. Marfo became First Vice Chairman and Citizen Akoto Deputy Secretary.
Eugene was elected Treasurer, Issifu Bawa Organiser, Nana Adu Communications Officer, Ababio Youth Organiser and Barrow Nasara Organiser.
Emelia Konadu became Women’s Organiser with one vote. The supplied results do not provide vote totals for the other contests.
Samba retains Northern Region
Incumbent Mohammed Baantima Samba retained the Northern Regional chairmanship with 215 votes, defeating Amadu Inusah, who polled 122 out of 387 votes cast.
Musah Fuseini obtained 44 votes, while Salifu Abdul Mumin secured five.
The other elected executives are Ayamba Yelmagli, First Vice Chairman; Dr Abdul Rahman Karim Kpala, Secretary; Bediako Jeremiah, Deputy Secretary; Husseini Abubakari Saddiq, Treasurer; Hajia Suraiya Manan, Women’s Organiser; Mohammed Ibrahim, Nasara Organiser; Salifu Abdul Rashid, Organiser; Yussif Danjuma, Communications Officer; and Abdul Rahman Mahama, Second Vice Chairman.
Abronye DC retains Bono
Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, secured another term as Bono Regional Chairman with 201 votes.
Joseph Mensah obtained 31, former Jaman South MP Yaw Afful polled 44, while Afari Gyan and Kwabena Oppong recorded zero votes.
Kate Amponsah Agyare won First Vice Chairman with 252, defeating Peter Boampong Asomah (29).
Kwaku Antwi Agyei won Second Vice Chairman with 123, against Issa Issaka (89) and Kwadwo Agyekum (68).
Kofi Ofosu Boateng retained Secretary with 187, ahead of Asare Baffour Ebenezer (93).
Randy Ashraf Issahaku narrowly won Deputy Secretary with 145, beating Stephen Opuni (135).
Samira Sulley became Women’s Organiser with 142, defeating incumbent Doris Asomah (139).
Dauda Ibrahim Bamba won Youth Organiser with 102, followed by Shadrach Abrefah Mensah (92), Joeffrey Kwarteng Brobbey (58) and Alhaji Baba Suwari (29).
Faisal Osman Mohammed won Nasara Organiser with 177, ahead of Wahab Bashiru (101).
Veronica Tuffour became Treasurer with 131, defeating Henry Osei (124) and Kassim Siaka (25).
Abdul Razak Oppong won Organiser with 229, against Darlington Bill Boampong (52), while Fahd Osman became Communications Officer with 170, beating Abubakari Yakubu (111).
A total of 281 delegates from 12 constituencies were expected to vote in the Bono election, supervised by the Electoral Commission.
Yirenkyi wins Oti
Dr Frank Yirenkyi became Oti Regional Chairman with 83 votes, defeating Evans Yaw Dapaah (71), Sherifa Sekyere Tijani (60) and Ahenkora Collins Yaw, who received zero.
Stephen Benyaseh Alewabah won First Vice Chairman with 105, ahead of Asuka Francis (43), Justine Okyerewa Okyere (41) and Maxwell Qophy Blagodzi (25).
Derrick Mensah Bonsu won Second Vice Chairman with 118, against Doris Nana Yaa Abronyeh (73) and Attafoe Peter (23).
Frank Awuah became Secretary with 80, defeating Felix Owusu Gyimah (61).
Obonda Emmanuel won Organiser with 87, ahead of Abubakar Salifu (80) and Gyamfi Boateng Charles (47).
Nicholas Baafi Boadi became Treasurer with 120, beating Daniel Asiedu (93).
Olivia Yawa Aglago won Women’s Organiser with 152, against Alice Mensah (60).
Musah Seidu became Communications Officer with 113, ahead of Eric Quaku Anane (101).
Shaibu Muhammed Habib won Nasara Organiser with 119, defeating Aliu Sharubutu (95), while Prince Kwadwo Amanor was elected Youth Organiser unopposed.
Woanya retained in Volta
Volta delegates retained Makafui Woanya as Regional Chairman with 169 votes, defeating Joseph Homenya, who polled 148.
The other elected executives are Kenneth Kodjo Ayim, First Vice Chairman; Palous Quashie, Second Vice Chairman; Shanbanton Moses, Secretary; Titus Attamiah, Deputy Secretary; Oxford Kwasi Agboli, Treasurer; Wisdom Klutsey, Organiser; Lebene Gbeti, Women’s Organiser; Senyo Emmanuel Amekplenu, Youth Organiser; Abdullah Suala, Nasara Organiser; and Perry Kwashie Nuwordu, Communications Officer.
Upper East produces new leadership
In the Upper East Region, Elvis Figo Awonekai won the chairmanship with 177 votes, ahead of Dr Moses Kwabena Atinga (123), Filson Kweku Awankuah (18), Patrick Ayaaba (13) and Osman Konkonba (1).
Ayamba Georgina won First Vice Chairman with 241, ahead of Isaac Adawele Atasige (67) and Asumda Janet Lamisi (23).
Daniel Ayine became Secretary with 181, beating Daniel Kwame Gariba (151).
Anaane Johnson Ayikene won Deputy Secretary with 114, ahead of Naoh Thomas Yaab (107), Aputara Akasoba Jeremiah (56) and Samuel Asambillah Akaamah (55).
Asaaba Fatima won Women’s Organiser with 142, followed by Abingde Evelyn (91), Ophelia Philomena Aovare (51) and Margaret Akagwire (48).
Bombande Edmond won Organiser with 153, ahead of Listowell Adaazi Azongbila (106) and Mark Ayamga Asampanbila (73).
Dr Samuel Akonga became Communications Officer with 158, beating Ayinbisa Peter Ayamga (107) and Apasinaba Ayine Johnson Austine (67).
Dr Daniel Ziba won Treasurer with 206, ahead of Inusah Sally (94) and Anaba Isaac Hakeem (32).
Musah Delwinde Sally won Nasara Coordinator with 196, followed by Seidu Abass Ustarz (107) and Adamu Masaud (28).
Ibrahim Bukari Baba leads Bono East
Ibrahim Bukari Baba was elected Bono East Regional Chairman with 180 votes, defeating Thomas Adu Appiah, who polled 73. One ballot was rejected.
Alexander Gyan won First Vice Chairman with 149, ahead of Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed (92) and Peter Koranteng (10); one ballot was rejected.
Amofa Atta Kofi won Second Vice Chairman with 132, against Baba Abdallah Baba (122).
David Boakye became Secretary with 181, defeating Peter Mensah (70), with two ballots rejected.
Mahama Seidu Liman won Assistant Secretary with 178, against Boateng Ebenezer (76).
Musah Sulemana was elected Organiser, with no vote total provided.

NPP turns to regional structures ahead of 2028
The results underline the scale of the NPP’s ongoing internal reorganisation as the opposition party seeks to strengthen its grassroots structures following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Several incumbents retained their positions, including Mohammed Baantima Samba in Northern, Fusheini Nurudeen in North East, Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz in Upper West, Kwame Baffoe in Bono, Makafui Woanya in Volta and Jerry Osei Poku as Eastern Regional Organiser.
At the same time, new chairpersons emerged in several strategically important regions, including Ashanti, Greater Accra, Eastern, Central, Western, Savannah, Ahafo, Oti, Upper East and Bono East.
The elections are expected to give the party new regional leadership as it builds towards its 2028 campaign. The Western North Region, however, was scheduled to conclude its regional election on Sunday, August 16, according to the supplied results.
