Ghana have booked their place in the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after results in other groups confirmed the Black Stars can no longer finish outside the qualification spots, even before playing their final Group L match.
FIFA confirmed that Ghana, alongside Egypt, England, Portugal, Paraguay and Senegal, have all mathematically secured qualification for the knockout stage ahead of the final round of group matches.
The Black Stars have amassed four points from their opening two fixtures, beginning their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Panama before earning a hard-fought goalless draw against England.
Ghana’s disciplined defensive performance against England secured a valuable point for Carlos Queiroz’s men, leaving them in a strong position in Group L.
England have also progressed after defeating Croatia 4-2 in their opening game and drawing 0-0 with Ghana to also finish on four points from two matches.
According to FIFA, outcomes in Groups F and H reduced the number of points needed to guarantee qualification for the Round of 32, confirming progression for Ghana and the five other teams regardless of their final group results.
Despite already securing qualification, Ghana’s final Group L clash against Croatia remains important, with the Black Stars aiming to finish top of the group and potentially earn a more favourable draw in the knockout stages.
The expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup features 12 groups, with the top two teams in each group advancing automatically to the Round of 32, alongside the eight best third-placed teams.
