Mahama confirms 3 Deputy Comptrollers-General for GIS

President John Dramani Mahama has approved the confirmation of three Deputy Comptrollers-General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), elevating them from acting positions to substantive ranks to strengthen the leadership and operational effectiveness of the Service.

The appointments, announced by the GIS in a statement issued on June 24, 2026, were made on the recommendation of the Service’s Governing Council and with the advice of the Public Services Commission.

The newly confirmed officers are Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration Evelyn Lolonyo Lotsu, who will head the Finance and Administration Directorate; Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration Faisal Disu, who will lead the Command Post and Operations Directorate; and Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration Philip Peter Andoh, who will oversee the Legal, Research and Monitoring Directorate.

According to the statement, the appointments recognise the officers’ proven leadership, professionalism and commitment to duty.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr Samuel Basintale Amadu, congratulated the newly confirmed deputy comptrollers-general and expressed confidence in their ability to contribute to the continued growth and transformation of the Service.

He commended their dedication and professionalism, noting that their appointments would further strengthen the GIS, promote good governance and support national security and development.

Mr Amadu also assured the officers of the full support of management as they assume their new responsibilities.

The appointments are expected to enhance the operational, administrative and legal capacity of the Ghana Immigration Service as it continues to play a critical role in border management, migration governance and national security.
