GMB to celebrate 20th anniversary with bigger prizes

TV3 Ghana has launched the 20th Anniversary edition of Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB), the nation’s most authentically Ghanaian and culturally relevant beauty pageant and reality TV show.

The launch which took place yesterday was attended by executives of Media General and some of the participants in the 19th season of the show.

General Manager of 3Group, Akofa Banson, announced that as part of the 20th Anniversary, a new crown will be unveiled for the Winner.

She would also receive a cash prize of GH₵200,000, a fully-expense-paid trip abroad, a new car, an educational scholarship towards a Masters programme, gold jewelry.

The winner would also participate in the Miss Earth 2026 Pageant to compete for the global crown in the Philippines.

She also announced that the Queen will embark on a community-nominated project which will be coordinated by the 3Foundation to establish her legacy.

She invited communities, traditional authorities, opinion leaders and development focused organisations to submit their proposals to the organisers via email at gmb20@mediageneral.com or submit their proposals to the GMB Secretariat by May 29, 2026.

On the evening of June 6, there would be an exclusive fundraising and networking event dubbed the Royal Impact Charity Ball to bring together corporate leaders, industry stakeholders, development partners  and traditional authorities.

The 20th Anniversary show will be on air from July 26 to October 18, 2026 to see the queen eventually crowned.

Banson stated that on August 29, sod will be cut for the commencement of the community project at a designated site to reinforce GMB’s commitment to leaving a practical lasting impact in society.

This project will be completed and handed over on November 28, 2026.

As part of the 20th Anniversary activities, there would be a carnival at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park on October 4, as “a vibrant public display of the celebration of Ghanaian culture, creativity and identity.”

The Head of Station at TV3, Augustine Dickson, said, “Twenty years ago, a vision was borne to create a platform that will not only entertain, but educate, empower and preserve the rich cultural identity of Ghana.

What began as a television show has evolved into a national cultural asset and a transformational movement that continues to touch lives across the country.”

He stated that GMB has become a springboard for young women to achieve greater heights in education, entrepreneurship, leadership, advocacy and community development.

Dickson said, “Many contestants who once stood on this stage with dreams and determination have gone to become accomplished professionals, media personalities, social advocates and agents of change within their communities.”

He continued, “it has given young women confidence, visibility, purpose, and opportunity. It has empowered them to use their voices not just for themselves, but their communities.”

The Launch was attended by the current winner of GMB, Etornam as well as some of her fellow participants.
