E&P pays $2m out of $5m Black Stars World Cup pledge

Engineers & Planners Limited, the headline sponsor of the Ghana national football team- Black Stars, has made the first installment of its US$5 million pledge to support the team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

The Deputy Minister of Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, speaking at a short presentation ceremony on Thursday, April 30, 2026, disclosed that Engineers & Planners has transferred US$2 million into a dedicated fund for the national team.

He described the payment as a symbolic contribution.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Dzata Group Holdings, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, reaffirmed his commitment and that of the business community to supporting national development initiatives, particularly in sports.

“This is just the beginning of that support to the country, and as time goes on, we will ensure that we redeem the remaining balance that we have promised,” he said.

The contribution forms part of broader efforts to mobilise private sector funding to support the Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup preparations.
