Yaw Owusu steps down as Kotoko interim Coach

Asante Kotoko have confirmed the resignation of their Interim Head Coach, Prince Yaw Owusu, with immediate effect.

The club, in an official statement signed by Communications Director Sarfo Duku, announced that the coach voluntarily stepped down, stating that his decision was taken in the overall interest of the club.

Prince Yaw Owusu, who took charge only a few months ago following the departure of Abdul Karim Zito, cited the need to prioritize the club’s stability amid ongoing challenges.

Kotoko’s management expressed deep appreciation for the coach’s service, dedication, and commitment during his short spell in charge, while wishing him success in his future endeavours.

“In his resignation letter, the coach stated that his decision was taken in the greatest interest of the club,” the statement noted.

Following his departure, the club has appointed Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Management added that further arrangements regarding the technical team will be communicated in due course.

The Porcupine Warriors are currently going through a difficult period, having failed to win in their last three league matches, suffering two defeats in that run.

Kotoko currently sit sixth on the league table, 10 points adrift of leaders Medeama SC.
