Mahama hosts Mnangagwa as Ghana, Zimbabwe deepen ties

President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe has arrived in Accra for a three-day state visit to Ghana.

He was met on arrival at the Jubilee Lounge of the Accra International Airport by his host, President John Dramani Mahama.

President Mnangagwa, who was given a 21-gun salute on arrival, reviewed the guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Also at the Airport to welcome the Zimbabwean President were senior government officials and members of the diplomatic community in Ghana.

The two leaders held a brief closed door meeting at the Jubilee Lounge.

According to Government statement, President Mahama is expected to host a State Banquet in honour of President Mnangagwa.

The visit would feature high-level bilateral engagements, including a tête-à-tête and delegation talks focused on strengthening cooperation in trade, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, sanitation, and joint efforts to tackle corruption and unemployment.

The two leaders would also witness the signing of key Memoranda of Understanding to advance mutual interests.

As part of the visit, President Mnangagwa will tour the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant and pay homage at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

The State Visit underscores the deep-rooted ties between Ghana and Zimbabwe and reaffirms a shared commitment to advancing a strategic partnership for sustainable development.
