The New Patriotic Party (NPP) expects about one million people to register through its online membership platform aimed at strengthening its internal membership drive.
About 185,000 people have registered in the first week of the exercise, which runs from 1st to 31st March, 2026.
Addressing a press conference in Accra, Mr Justin Koduah Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP, said the online platform was introduced to address challenges faced by Ghanaians unable to register at polling stations due to time constraints.
He explained that the online registration covers three categories of people: registered voters, non-registered voters, and members living abroad.
Mr Frimpong said members who complete the online registration and pay dues would receive a temporary digital membership card, adding that a physical visit to the polling station is required to finalise registration and obtain a permanent card.
On physical registration at polling stations, he said the nationwide exercise will be held across 276 constituencies and more than 40,000 polling centres every Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, from 14th to 31st March.
He noted that polling station executives are expected to remain present to facilitate registration, with exceptions granted only for activities such as farming or observance of traditional taboos.
Mr Frimpong said measures are in place to ensure that only confirmed party members can vote and contest positions in internal elections.
He assured party members that the online platform will prevent political opponents from infiltrating the party register or participating in internal elections.
