Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush powered Manchester City to a 2‑0 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, lifting Pep Guardiola’s side provisionally within four points of Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Semenyo, who joined City from Bournemouth two weeks ago, scored his first league goal for the club in first-half injury time, while Marmoush opened the scoring in the sixth minute with his first league goal of the season.
City’s win ends a near-month-long league drought, giving them 46 points from 23 games, while Wolves remain bottom with eight points, 14 from safety. Arsenal can restore a seven-point lead with a win over Manchester United on Sunday.
Marmoush started ahead of Erling Haaland in his first league action since the Africa Cup of Nations, firing home Matheus Nunes’s cross to put City ahead. Semenyo’s strike, set up by Bernardo Silva, sealed the victory with a low, powerful finish past Jose Sa.
